Windhaven campsites are your RV base. ATV and UTV rentals and riding arrangements are provided separately by local operators.
Looking for ATV and UTV rentals near Dubois? Start by matching the ride to your group and the current routes, then plan the RV stay around it. Windhaven RV Resort does not operate an ATV or side-by-side rental service, but a Dubois campsite can give you a place to return after an independently arranged outing.
Local rental options to investigate
Dubois Honda ATV’s rental page describes unguided ATV and UTV rentals, including different seating capacities. Union Pass Rentals is another local option to contact about current equipment and outing arrangements. These are operator links for your research, not a claim of a Windhaven package or formal partnership.
Ask about the vehicle you will actually receive, driver and passenger eligibility, safety equipment, insurance or damage terms, pickup arrangements and the cancellation policy. A listed rental is not the same as a guided ride, and availability can change by date.
Tell the operator what kind of day you want
Explain whether you want a first-time scenic outing, a family ride, a longer day or something suited to experienced riders. Mention how many people need seats and any relevant comfort or assistance needs. The right machine is only part of the decision; the right route and instruction matter too.
Ask how long the recommended outing normally takes with breaks, what is included in that estimate and where you should turn around. Agree on what happens if weather changes or the route is not suitable when you arrive. Do not pick a more difficult ride simply because the rental period allows extra hours.
Use current route information, not a trail from an old post
Confirm the specific route, vehicle-width suitability, seasonal restrictions and applicable permits with the operator and land manager. Ask for the current official travel map for the land you will enter. A track visible on a phone map is not proof it is open to your vehicle.
The Shoshone National Forest’s recreation information is a starting point for forest contacts and current area information. Follow posted closures and land-manager instructions. Keep legal and access questions attached to the actual route rather than assuming one rule covers every road, trail and property.
Bringing your own side-by-side or extra trailer?
Call or text Windhaven at 307-855-5427 before arrival to discuss the complete setup: RV, tow vehicle, equipment trailer and any extra vehicles. Guests can bring recreation equipment, but the site and parking arrangement should fit your particular combination. Any additional arrangements or charges are handled case by case.
Use our resort map as a starting point, not a substitute for confirming space. Do not assume that an RV site’s stated length automatically includes a second trailer parked alongside it.
Make the rest of the day easy
- Pack water, food and the clothing recommended by your operator.
- Keep a copy of the pickup and return instructions.
- Allow time for orientation and equipment checks.
- Plan fuel and vehicle transport before departure.
- Leave room for showers and a relaxed evening back at camp.
Windhaven’s full hookups, showers and laundry support the RV-stay side of the trip. For more outing choices, explore things to do around Dubois and build separate days for riding, town and the national parks.
