As the Wyoming air turns crisp and the aspens fade from gold to bare branches, October marks a quiet but beautiful close to the camping season at Windhaven RV Resort. For those who love fewer crowds, cooler temps, and that unmistakable scent of fall, this is the perfect time for one last RV escape before winter settles in.
Fall Colors Along the Wind River
By early October, the cottonwoods and aspens surrounding Dubois and the Wind River are at their peak. A short drive from the campground offers some of the best leaf-peeping opportunities in Wyoming — without the tourist traffic you’d find in the national parks.
Be sure to check the Wyoming Road Conditions website.
Why Camp in October?
- Peace & Quiet: Fewer campers mean wide-open views, more space, and tranquil evenings.
- Cool Weather: Crisp mornings and starry nights make for cozy campfires and layered adventures.
- Wildlife Watching: Elk, mule deer, and even bighorn sheep are more active in the fall.
