A good Dubois, Wyoming RV itinerary leaves room for both the places you came to see and the vacation you came to enjoy. Our suggested three-day plan gives you a local day, a bigger adventure day and a slower day—without moving your campsite every morning.
This is a flexible plan, not a timed tour. Swap the days around to suit the weather, attraction schedules and your own pace. The mountain photograph above shows Grand Teton National Park, a regional outing rather than the view from every Windhaven campsite.
Day 1: Settle in and discover Dubois
Arriving with an RV is already an activity. Give yourself time to park, connect your hookups and get comfortable before committing to another drive. Windhaven’s check-in is 2 p.m.; requests for an earlier arrival are handled individually when available.
Make the afternoon about the town rather than a long list of attractions. Visit downtown shops, choose a place for dinner and take a short walk if conditions suit. For a history stop, the Dubois Museum introduces the Upper Wind River Valley. Check its current hours before making it the centerpiece of arrival day.
Back at your RV, decide what tomorrow’s priority really is. A museum visit and a national park outing deserve different schedules. Choosing one main experience is often more enjoyable than trying to squeeze both into the same day.
Day 2: Choose one big experience
For a Grand Teton day, use our Grand Teton day-trip guide and leave room for stops, meals and the return drive. A separate touring vehicle makes sightseeing simpler than relocating a large RV. Check WYDOT road conditions before heading over the pass.
If military history is your priority, spend the day at the National Museum of Military Vehicles instead. It is an indoor museum experience as well as the outdoor displays shown in some of our photographs. Read our museum and RV stay guide before you go.
Day 3: Let the trip slow down
Keep your final full day closer to Dubois: a fishing outing arranged around conditions, another museum stop, a town lunch or simply time beside the river. Do not treat every open hour as a hole that must be filled. A relaxed day also gives you time for laundry, preparing the RV and planning the next leg.
Can Yellowstone fit into three days?
Yes, as a deliberate alternative to the Grand Teton day—not a promise that you can see all of both parks in one outing. Pick the Yellowstone area you want to visit, then plan the complete round trip with our regional RV trip guide. Entrance access and roads vary by season; consult Yellowstone’s official road information.
