Planning winter RV camping in Dubois, Wyoming? Start with two questions: is the campground open, and is your RV ready for an occupied cold-weather stay? Windhaven RV Resort is open year-round, with full-hookup sites and restrooms, showers and laundry available through winter. Preparing your rig and checking travel conditions are the next steps.
1. Know what your winter RV site includes
Windhaven provides water, sewer and 30/50-amp electrical hookups. Showers, restrooms and laundry remain open in winter, so you do not have to plan around a summer-only facility schedule. Browse our RV park amenities and winter camping and snowmobiling page for the campground details.
2. Prepare your RV for freezing conditions
Bring a heated water hose for cold-weather use; Windhaven does not supply one. Follow your RV and equipment manufacturers’ instructions for winter operation, including your water connections and heating systems. A working campground hookup does not make every RV suitable for every temperature.
Check your setup before leaving home rather than discovering a missing item after arrival. Pack warm layers and the supplies your own rig needs. If you are uncertain whether your RV is suitable for an occupied winter stay, consult its manufacturer or an RV service professional.
3. Check your actual route before departure
Use WYDOT road conditions before driving to Dubois and again before a mountain day trip. Build flexibility into your arrival and activity plans. A campground being open year-round does not mean every nearby road, trail or attraction is open in all weather.
4. Arrange your arrival and extra vehicles
Check-in is 2 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m. Early arrival or late departure needs advance approval and depends on availability. Winter guests receive the normal site-assignment and check-in instructions. If you are bringing an enclosed trailer, snowmobiles or an extra truck, call with your total rig length and parking needs so we can discuss the best setup.
5. Give yourself a quiet place to return to
After a day outside, an in-town full-hookup site makes it easier to settle back into your own space. Quiet hours at Windhaven are 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. For a longer stay, call about weekly and monthly options rather than assuming a nightly booking covers every arrangement.
