A winter home base is not a winter Yellowstone driving loop

Windhaven’s year-round opening and Yellowstone’s winter access are separate things. Most Yellowstone roads, including the South Entrance route used by travelers coming from the Grand Teton side, close to regular cars and RVs during winter. Limited snowcoach and snowmobile access operates under separate seasonal arrangements; an ordinary campground reservation does not provide that access.

The road between Yellowstone’s North and Northeast entrances is the usual year-round regular-vehicle exception, weather permitting. That is not a substitute southern approach from Dubois: winter access east of Cooke City also has closures.

Build a Dubois winter stay around the activities and staging locations you have actually confirmed. If Yellowstone is a priority, verify the operator’s meeting point, transport arrangements and dates separately rather than assuming you can drive in through the South Entrance.
