A big-rig RV site in Dubois needs to fit more than the number printed on your motorhome’s brochure. Your tow vehicle, slides, utility connections and preferred way of arriving all affect whether a campsite works comfortably. A few specific questions before booking can prevent a frustrating arrival.
Describe the whole setup, not just the coach
Tell the campground your RV type and length, whether you are towing a vehicle or trailer, and whether you plan to disconnect it. Describe extra vehicles too. A site that accommodates a motorhome does not automatically accommodate every combination without a separate parking arrangement.
At Windhaven, call (307) 855-5427 if your setup needs an individual fit check. Do not interpret a site’s stated length as a promise that your entire connected combination will fit. We can discuss the arrangement before you commit to a particular space.
Look at usable space and utility locations
Review the Windhaven resort map, then think about where the RV door, slides and utility connections will sit. Ask which site suits your needs rather than selecting solely from a photograph. A picture is useful for atmosphere, but it cannot show every clearance or turning movement.
Windhaven’s standard RV sites include water, sewer and 30/50-amp service. Sites 3A, 9A and 28A have 30-amp service only and share hookups with their adjacent numbered sites. Bring connections appropriate to your RV, and confirm the electrical service and utility layout of your exact site before booking.
Do you need a guaranteed pull-through?
Site 1 is Windhaven’s only dedicated pull-through site. Some middle sites can work as pull-throughs when the site on the opposite side is unoccupied, but that access is not guaranteed. If backing in or disconnecting a tow vehicle would be difficult, call or text (307) 855-5427 before choosing a site so we can discuss the actual arrival arrangement.
Plan the first ten minutes after arrival
Check-in is 2 p.m. Having your reservation details ready, knowing how you will receive instructions and deciding where to disconnect a tow vehicle makes arrival easier. Early check-in requests depend on availability and are handled individually.
Keep arrival day realistic. Getting parked, connected and comfortable is a better first priority than racing straight back out for a long sightseeing drive. A relaxed start gives you time to see how the campsite works for your daily routine.
Leave the RV settled for sightseeing
A separate touring vehicle can be useful for Grand Teton, Jackson Hole and local attractions. Some scenic roads have their own vehicle restrictions: the National Park Service specifically prohibits RVs and trailers on Signal Mountain Summit Road. Check the rules for the actual stops you plan, not just the main highway.
Our regional trip guide helps organize outings from Dubois. Always check WYDOT’s current road information before driving a mountain route.
Campsite fit and park-road access are different checks. Our Grand Teton RV parking and vehicle-planning guide brings those road-specific questions together before you choose a sightseeing route.
